BENNER TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WJAC) — A man convicted of murder was found dead in State Correctional Institution Benner Township over the weekend. According to the state Department of Corrections, 32-year-old Yessy Rivera was found unresponsive in his cell Sunday morning. SCI officials say staff provided immediate emergency assistance until medical personnel arrived at the prison. Rivera was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College, where he was later pronounced dead, according to the DOC.

ELK GROVE, Calif. (CITC) — A California teacher is suing his teachers union after it allegedly denied his candidacy for a position on its executive board due to him being White. History teacher Isaac Newman attempted to run for a board position for the Elk Grove Education Association (EGEA) after becoming “fed up” with his school district’s diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) policies, his attorney told Crisis in the Classroom (CITC).

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue teams arrived on the scene of the barricade in the late morning hours of Monday, April 3 after additional assistance was called for by the Montgomery County Police Department. The barricade has been contained to one residence in the area of Shadow Ridge Court.
